This is a polygon dataset illustrating the areal extent (surface and subsurface) of the Haynes aquifer. It is in ESRI shapefile format.
Purpose:
The shapefile was generated to illustrate the regional extent of the Haynes aquifer within the Paskapoo Formation and to model the Paskapoo hydrostratigraphy.

We derived polygon boundaries from a 1000 m grid-cell size raster dataset, and therefore, the boundaries are accurate only to that scale. The classification of what constitutes an aquifer is determined by the geometry of stacked distributions of >55% sand in 25 m thick slices above the base of the Paskapoo Formation.
Logical Consistency Report:
We checked this shapefile for topological integrity using the ESRI ArcCatalog Check Geometry tool. No deficiencies were found.
Completeness Report:
We deleted polygons smaller than 2 square km by querying the dataset to remove numerous modelling outliers and inliers within the regional aquifer distribution polygons. We only modelled the undeformed part of the Paskapoo Formation, which lies east of the Rocky Mountain fold-and-thrust belt, in this study.

We created this shapefile by converting the Haynes isopach grid dataset (Alberta Geological Survey Digital Dataset 2012-0021) into a polygon feature class, then exporting it as a shapefile. We deleted polygons smaller than 2 square km (outliers and inliers) to create a generalized, regional distribution of the Haynes aquifer.
