AGS Video Launched

The Alberta Geological Survey (AGS) is the official provincial geological survey of Alberta. Building on over 95 years of history, the AGS provides information and advice about the geology of Alberta.

3D Geological Framework

The AGS is developing a three-dimensional (3D) geological framework of Alberta’s subsurface geology (covering 660 000 km2), including both Quaternary and bedrock geological units.

Seismicity in Alberta

Alberta is a prairie province bordering the eastern flank of the Rocky Mountains. Its geographic location is characterized by a transition from a relatively low-seismicity intraplate regime to a more active foreland belt.

Alberta Geology in Minecraft

The Alberta Geological Survey (AGS) has released simplified 3D versions of the Peace River Geological Model in Minecraft format. Three different Minecraft worlds provide three times the fun!

Interactive Maps

Our Interactive Maps highlight some of the geology and earth resource data published by AGS, and enable you to download the data in spreadsheet, shapefile or KML format.

Open Data Catalogue

Open Data catalog features a subset of GIS data related to geology for the province of Alberta and published by the AGS. Search the datasets by topic, explore featured datasets, or review the full list.

Table of Formations

The Alberta Table of Formations is routinely updated to reflect current scientific information.

Presentations & Posters
