Original map was mounted on a large digitizing table. Heavy plexiglass was put on top to smooth out any wrinkles and to keep the map in place. Geographic coordinates from the map's four corners were used as tick marks for georeferencing. They were converted to UTM 11 NAD27, and the map was georeferenced to those coordinates. The RMS error generated from georeferencing was within acceptable tolerance: less than 3 metres.
All deposits were digitized as linework. The Clean command was used to convert linework to polygons. The Clean wasl also used on all unclosed/sliver polygons and dangles. These polygons and dangles were manually corrected in ArcEdit. The Build command was used to ceate the topology. A unique identifier of each polygon was assigned manually in ArcEdit. The dataset was plotted at its original scale at 1:250,000 and compared visually with the original map for identifying digitizing and labelling mistakes. Deposit information from the map legend was added to polygons based on their unique identifier. The dataset was reprojected to UTM zone 11 projection in NAD83 (NTv2 and geographic coordinates in NAD83 (NTv2).
