This GIS dataset depicts the surficial geology of the Lesser Slave River Area (NTS 83O/SE) (GIS data, point features). The data were created in geodatabase format and output for public distribution in shapefile format.

These data comprise the point features of Alberta Geological Survey Map 553, Surficial Geology of the Lesser Slave River Area (NTS 83O/SE) (GIS data, point features).

The data comprise the surficial features for NTS 83O/SE derived from fieldwork and LiDAR bare earth digital elevation model (DEM) data (unpublished) interpretation.
Completeness Report:
Data were compiled initially for the whole study area through LiDAR interpretation and verified by direct field obeservations of about 400 field sites distributed across the map area.

We estimate the accuracy of the surface feature interpretations to be better than +/- 100 m on the ground, based on informed judgement of the effects of all combined map production errors. No formal accuracy check verified the interpretation; however, field site data provided control on interpretation. Site locations were measured with handheld GPS units, whose error is estimated at better than +/- 10 m on the ground.

2. digitizing polygons and line features across the LiDAR image of NTS 83O/SE using ArcGIS;
