Description:
Abstract:

This GIS dataset depicts the drift thickness in the Edmonton-Calgary corridor based on water-well litholog data and bedrock outcrop locations. We used well data from an internal Edmonton-Calgary corridor geological mapping database.

This thickness map was generated to assist in building a geological model for the region. The sediment thickness was generated by subtracting the bedrock topography surface from the 60 m Shuttle Radar Topography Mission v. 2 digital elevation model.

Purpose:
To update the geological model of the Edmonton-Calgary corridor region using geostatistical modelling.

Data Quality Information:
Logical Consistency Report:
The sediment thickness indicates the thickness of sediments in metres that lie on the bedrock surface. The data are ArcGIS grid format. Grid cells with no data are assigned the value -9999.
Completeness Report:
We used geostatistical techniques to complete the bedrock surface. Data were culled and assessed to create the bedrock surface, which was used to create the sediment thickness.
