This dataset is part of the 3D hydrostratigraphic model of the Calgary-Lethbridge Corridor (CLC), southwestern Alberta. It represents the structure top of the Paskapoo / Porcupine Hills hydrostratigraphic unit (HSU), which is the bedrock topography surface in the CLC where the HSU is present.
Bedrock units included in the CLC model are derived from the Geological Framework of Alberta, a regional geological model of the province. The extent of the top of the Paskapoo / Porcupine Hills HSU, provided by the Geological Framework of Alberta, was clipped to the CLC model domain for integration into a multi-layer hydrostratigraphic model.
Alberta Geological Survey (AGS) Report 91 includes a full description of the process used to produce this structure grid.
The methodology used to create this grid dataset is fully documented in AGS Report 91.
Deterministic Grid Alteration Information:
The CLC bedrock topography grid (400 m grid cell-size) from DIG 2016-0036 represents the top of the Paskapoo / Porcupine Hills HSU in the western portion of the CLC, where the unit subcrops at the CLC bedrock topography surface. Subcrop information for the Paskapoo / Porcupine Hills HSU was provided by the Geological Framework of Alberta, in gridded format (500 m grid cell-size) and clipped to the CLC model domain. Further information about the input data, interpolation methods, and grid alteration information of the source CLC bedrock topography grid is outlined as part of DIG 2016-0036.
The grid of the Paskapoo / Porcupine Hills HSU top was exported to ESRI ascii format and imported into RockWorks16 for integration into the full hydrostratigraphic model.
Modelling constraints applied: The grid of the top of the Paskapoo / Porcupine Hills HSU was constrained to the CLC bedrock topography where the two grids intersected.
