Digital Data 2024-0004
Author(s) | Date | 2024-02-16 |
This digital data release includes total carbon and sulphur data from combustion and infrared detection analyses of fine-grained sedimentary rock samples from Alberta. These samples were selected from archived sample material at the Alberta Energy Regulator / Alberta Geological Survey (AER/AGS) Mineral Core Research Facility in Edmonton and from drillcore at the AER Core Research Centre in Calgary. The sample sites include oil and gas wells, mineral exploration boreholes, and outcrops located throughout Alberta. The samples presented here were previously analyzed for whole-rock lithogeochemistry, and were selected for total carbon and sulphur analysis based on their chemical compositions, geospatial locations, and stratigraphic intervals. This dataset includes samples sourced from the following stratigraphic units: Exshaw Formation, Banff Formation, Gething Formation, Bluesky Formation, Spirit River Formation, Loon River Formation, Belle Fourche Formation, Second White Specks Formation, Cardium Formation, First White Specks Member, Colorado Group, and Lea Park Formation. This work was completed under the Mineral Grant provided by the Government of Alberta June 22, 2021.
