This dataset provides a delineation of regions in northern Alberta that contain permafrost, and is intended to be used for landscape-scale planning, administrative and informational purposes at a 1:1 000 000 scale. These highly generalized regional outlines are derived by spatially aggregating and generalizing the information contained within the much more detailed and higher resolution Permafrost Classification Model for Northern Alberta (AGS DIG 2018-0008). Users should refer to the original permafrost classification model if they require an estimation of where permafrost is present at a considerably more detailed scale that is relevant for purposes such as route planning, facility siting, and other geotechnical or scientific investigations.
