Abstract

This list of critical minerals with demonstrated potential in Alberta is provided to convey a high-level summary of the prospective resources in the province. Critical minerals are defined by countries and jurisdictions as key components in advancing their unique economic priorities and maintaining or creating important supply chains. Shifting economic priorities or mineral endowment can result in changes to the list of critical minerals. Previous AGS publications (e.g., Map 590, DIG 2019-0026) were extensively consulted to produce this list of critical minerals with known potential in Alberta. Prospectivity for any of the given critical minerals is subject to change as new information becomes available. Commodities not included in this list may have potential in Alberta, but further investigation is required to demonstrate their prospectivity.

This work was completed under the Mineral Grant provided by the Government of Alberta dated June 22, 2021.
