Alberta’s Montney

This information sheet summarizes aspects of the Montney unconventional resource play development in northwestern Alberta. The summary includes a brief overview of host-rock geology, a summary of reservoir characteristics, a map displaying the location of producing wells and formation thickness, information on production methods, well design, and drilling history, and provides updated resource and reserve estimates as of the end of 2023, based on a 2026 study by McDaniel and Associates completed for the Alberta Energy Regulator.
