Abstract

Click the Description tab to watch the video.

This talk will focus on the controls on the distribution of salt - and their bed‐scale heterogeneities ‐ in the Elk Point
Group of Alberta. The distribution of evaporites within the succession will be discussed within the context of regional lithostratigraphic mapping, supplemented with net‐evaporite thickness mapping of salt in the Lotsberg, Cold Lake, and Prairie Evaporite formations. This detailed regional geology will provide context for a discussion of salt caverns within these deposits, including a view of current caverns, and implications for future cavern construction.
