Abstract
This report is intended to serve as a summary of present knowledge on the bentonite resources of Alberta. In the course of preparing the report, deposits reported in the literature were visited and several new deposits were investigated. All deposits were sampled and preliminary tests for drilling fluid characteristics and decolourizing ability were run.
In general, the report has been written for those interested in the practical application of Alberta's bentonite resources. Details about the fundamental nature of bentonite are discussed in the Appendix.
